Lauterborn Broke Bad Then Broke Out
Mike's last official assignment in the ball-and-chain agency that he had reported to day-in and day-out for the past six years was to develop, oversee the design and production of, and launch a multi-city mobile tour. The main element of the tour was a 53-foot mobile theater with Dolby surround sound and a 12'x6' screen, that accommodates 92 people in stadium-style seats. This mother humper would be towed by a "tractor", deposited at an event site (e.g. Super Bowl, Nascar race, Academy Awards, etc.) and lure people in to watch a short teaser screening of this cable TV client's season premiere episode. Consumers could also enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a 55-inch SONY Bravia TV and assorted other prizes. Lauterborn helped determine all the event sites, wrote all the promotional copy for onsite signage and sweeps entries, and sourced and ordered items like the benches and rooftop inflatable that you see in this photo. The tour kicked off in Miami Feb 6, 2010 and wrapped in NY's Times Square on Friday March 19.
